This is what Molokini really looks like. Word has it, the pic of Molokini with a star shown is photo-shopped…others say the star is there but only visible at low tide. Many members of my family, including myself, have lived in Hawaii, at different times over a period of 30 years, and unfortunately never witnessed nor heard any mention of the star, if it did indeed exist. Even google maps has not yet captured this star.

A true fact of Molokini is that it’s a state seabird sanctuary.. and home to more than 250 marine species, beautiful corals and more. It is a partially submerged volcanic crater with a flourishing reef with a visibility as deep as 150 feet.

If, perchance, the star did exist…(sorry to say I do not believe it does) then yes..it would be a great place for witches to gather….but beware the tides and powerful currents…

Hawaiian mythology: Molokini was a beautiful woman. She and Pele, the fire goddess, were in love with the same man. The jealous Pele cut her rival in two and transformed her into stone. The woman’s head is supposedly Puʻu Olai, (Little Beach) the cinder cone by Makena Beach.

I was born here!

It is undoubtedly a beautiful country, with breathtaking natural spots. The people here are usually kind and friendly. But that’s the bright side of it.

But there is a dark side as well.

First of all, economic problems make life more difficult. I am going to school knowing that when I graduate, I won’t be able to find a job. My cousin proposed to actually pay in order to get professional experience, but she was rejected. Now she’s in Manchester, hoping for a better future.

Also, we are going crazy socially lately. Ethnicism and racism are at their peak because of the arrival of many immigrants the previous years. Greece is not financially able to maintain all these immigrants, since it’s not even able to maintain the Greek population. But they definitely don’t deserve all the hate and violence they receive. Some of them have definitely comitted crimes, but I’m sure that those who kill them because of their skin colour and yell “Greece to the Greeks” would have comitted crimes themselves if they were all alone, without a penny in a foreign and hostile country. It makes me really sad that a large portion of us believes Neonazism is the solution. It is not; love and help to others is. Why does colour and religion matter? :/

And also, some of Greeks are really stuck to the past. We tend to worship our ancestors too much. Also, we tend to be sexist.

But that’s just the bad side, really, and a small portion of the population. We are creative people, intelligent, die hard rebels and extra-curious about anything. We are bonded really tightly, but only with people from our country -that’s a bad side too.

Education and health are not very well maintained, unfortunately.

The living conditions aren’t great, but it’s fun living here. Wherever you look at, there is something interesting to find out about.

He’s promised me things my whole life and never keeps those promises.” The waterfall of words that go deep into his home life, which is no piece of breeze, end with this sentence: “I shouldn’t have blown up at the teacher.”

I’m not particularly political but I don’t think of this Monsanto business as political. It’s an abuse of nature and a degradation of quality in otherwise natural products that we consume.

On the internet, you always hear people arguing from both sides. I haven’t once seen an insightful article or post defending the nefarious machinations of Monsanto as beneficial for humanity.

If all of these countries have banned Monsanto, then why haven’t we?

Monsanto sucks, pass it on.

Glad to see that my country has done something right.

Polishing the Diamond

I have been returning again and again to the theme of controlling emotion by self observation. Self observation is the simple process of removing yourself from yourself and observing as if outside the interplay between thought and emotion.

We sometimes talk of “polishing the diamond”. The diamond is that swirling energy which surrounds the solar plexus and the heart. It is a real energy. We can detect part of it with scientific instruments. It is partly made up of a magnetic field and an electrical field.

We can sense this inner diamond. When we become accustomed to observing it we become aware of its pulsing rhythms which respond to our thoughts the way a music visualizer reacts to music. It expands and contracts. It burns hot and cold. Once we have done this observation for a while we can slowly learn to gain some measure of control over it. This is known as “polishing the diamond”.

One technique that people use is visualization. Visualization is using mental images as a kind of symbolic representation of real internal processes. This is how all language works. So we visualize in our minds a glowing ball of energy revolving around our solar plexus. When we are happy the ball expands and spins rapidly. When we are sad it contracts and simply pulses. We can visualize color based on chakra colors. That is when we are fearful or full of appetite for food, drink, drugs or sex it will pulse orange and red. In fear or panic deep red. In calmness yellow. In deep love green and yellow. In calm meditation a serene blue. In full mindfulness violet or clear light.

By visualizing these things we have a kind of language to use. We can say to ourselves my energy is red and static and I need to get it into the yellow and green. Now keep in mind this is just visualization technique and not some magical thing.

It works. Try and see.
